HEALTHY items in high demand by food banks

While all food donations are appreciated, there is a focus on providing access to healthy, nutritious food for everyone. As such, here is a list of nutritious items in high demand at food banks.

  • Pastas – whole grain or brown rice pasta
     
  • Alternative grains – oats, quinoa, couscous, and brown rice
     
  • Cereals – whole grain, high fibre, and low-sugar
     
  • Crackers – whole grain, brown rice, or seed crackers

  • Canned tuna, salmon, or sardines
     
  • Peanut butter (non hydrogenated) or other nut butters
     
  • Dry or canned lentils, beans, and chickpeas
     
  • Unsalted nuts and seeds

  • Dried or canned fruit with no added sugar
     
  • 100% fruit juice (bottles, cans, and cartons)
     
  • Vegetable soups (cans or cartons)
     
  • Canned low sodium vegetables
     
  • Low sodium pasta sauce
